Job summary

Professional Contractor Supply is hiring a Driver Associate in Columbus, OH. This role operates a company-owned delivery truck, delivering materials to job sites, and requires a valid license, clean driving record, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

A forklift may be required; schedule is Monday–Friday, day shift, with bonus compensation. The starting pay is $21.50 per hour, with a range up to $25.10, based on experience and certifications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Staging merchandise for outgoing shipment and loading/unloading on delivery trucks.
  • Assist Operations Manager and teammates in keeping warehouse and shipping areas neat and safe.
  • Promote safety and report accidents per policy.
  • Keep General Manager informed of shortages, overloads, or damaged merchandise.
  • Operate company vehicles safely to deliver materials and parts to customers and jobsites.
  • Follow assigned delivery schedules and routing to ensure on-time arrivals.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and seek service when needed.
  • Maintain neat, clean vehicle; report mechanical problems promptly.
  • Follow all company policies and maintain courteous, service-minded behavior.
  • Attend department meetings and trainings as requested.

General Job Category Description

This position requires one to operate a company owned delivery truck to deliver materials and finished products. To serve customers in the local area to deliver product to job sites. Must be self-directed in the absence of supervision; reliably follow traffic laws and company policy driving procedures and work guidelines to reach work objectives; set daily priorities and schedule accordingly to lay out delivery routes to accomplish on-time deliveries to customers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Staging merchandise for outgoing shipment and loading and unloading merchandise on delivery trucks.
  • Assisting Operations Manager and co-workers in performing assigned tasks, including ensuring the warehouse and shipping areas are neat and orderly and all equipment is kept in safe and efficient condition.
  • Exercising and promoting safe behaviors and showing unyielding support of programs, rules and policies regarding safety. Reporting accidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Keeping the General Manager informed of shortages, overloads, damaged merchandise and inventory control.
  • Operating a company-owned and leased vehicle safely while delivering materials, products, and parts to customers and jobsites.
  • Following traffic laws at all times.
  • Obtaining signatures on delivery and pick-up invoices or signed slips.
  • Following assigned scheduling and routing of deliveries; making deliveries in a timely manner as scheduled.
  • Following maintenance schedule for truck services and repairs; taking vehicle for service when instructed to do so.
  • Reporting any mechanical problems to direct supervisor and maintaining vehicle in a neat and clean condition.
  • Following all company policies and remaining courteous and service-minded while dealing with other employees and customers.
  • Support a culture of collaboration and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Complete projects and assignments on time.
  • Comply with all rules and procedures.
  • Maintains punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Attending department meetings and trainings as requested.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record. Presentation of a DMV report is required prior to beginning employment.
  • Must be 23 years of age or over.
  • A minimum of two years driving experience over; 16ft trucks, forklifts and man lifts.
  • Must be familiar with the Columbus area and have the ability to read directions and use street maps to plot delivery route.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50lbs in order to load and deliver packages.
  • Must be a dependable worker with the ability to carry out a series of work instructions without constant supervision.
  • Must be proficient in computer and general internet usage.
  • Must be able to create a positive and productive working relationship with employees and customers.
  • Must be able to work independently and using effective problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
  • May be required to work some Saturdays for inventory.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift.

Job Type: Full-Time

Starting Range: $21.50 - $25.10 per hour plus bonus compensation

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day shift
