Job summary

Southeast Senior Services in Wrangell is seeking a caring Transportation Aide to transport seniors and individuals with disabilities, deliver meals to home-bound seniors, and assist in the senior center kitchen with meal preparation, packaging, and serving.

The role requires safe driving of CCS vehicles, door-to-door escorts, wheelchair assistance, and support for clients who may have cognitive impairments; kitchen duties include meal preparation and sanitation in line with DEC guidelines.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old with an Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must obtain an Alaska Food Workers card within 10 days of hire.
• Background check required.
• Experience with seniors or persons with disabilities preferred.
• Experience with routine vehicle maintenance desirable.

Overview

Southeast Senior Services in Wrangell is seeking a caring individual to provide transportation to community seniors and individuals with disabilities, deliver meals to home-bound seniors, and assist in the senior center kitchen with meal preparation, packaging, and serving. The role requires safe and legal driving of CCS vehicles, door-to-door escorts, assistance for passengers using wheelchairs, and support for clients who may have cognitive impairments. Kitchen duties include preparing and serving nutritious meals according to program guidelines, ordering and properly storing food and supplies, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen according to DEC guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation to seniors and individuals with disabilities and deliver meals to home-bound clients.
• Provide door-to-door escorts and assist passengers using wheelchairs; support clients with cognitive impairments as needed.
• Assist in the senior center kitchen: prepare, package, and serve meals; help with ordering and storage of food and supplies; maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen per DEC guidelines.
• Drive CCS vehicles safely and legally, complying with all applicable regulations and policies.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old with an Alaska driver’s license and a good driving record for the past 18 months; no DUI or reckless driving in the past three years.
• Experience with senior citizens and/or persons with disabilities is preferred.
• Experience with routine vehicle maintenance is desirable.
• Food and beverage experience is preferred.
• Must obtain an Alaska Food Workers card within 10 days of hire.
• Background check required.

Details

This is a part-time position, 24 hours/week, 8:00 am– 2:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday. Starting wage is $17/hour.
