Job summary

Waste Management in Madison, WI is seeking a Driver Apprentice to train and safely operate a commercial refuse/recycling vehicle after obtaining a Commercial Driving Permit. You will work with a WM Driver/Trainer, complete required training, and progress toward becoming a licensed WM Driver, with on-site, full-time hours and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public and complete records.
• Commercial or Non-commercial Driver's License Class C or D.
• Pre-employment screening including drug test and physical.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle.
• Notifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of incidents, service interruptions and safety hazards.
• Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
• Completes end-of-day documentation and checkout process.
• Assists driver with backing maneuvers and route efficiency.
