Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, safety‑focused CDL driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. The role requires operating Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non‑hazardous materials—including both liquid and dry products—under strict compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag safety standards. The driver will handle bulk and packaged deliveries, manage loading and unloading procedures, complete required documentation, and maintain reliable schedules with regular home time.
Responsibilities
- Operate Class 8 tractors and lower for chemical distribution.
- Transport HAZMAT and non‑hazardous materials, including liquids and solids.
- Perform off‑loading and loading procedures using pumps, air, and other equipment, managing the entire process from transport to securement and paperwork.
- Conduct in‑plant movements (spotting), inter‑company branch transfers, and outside deliveries (customers/vendors).
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, and site‑specific rules—including packaging, labeling, placarding, pre‑inspection, daily logs, and repair reporting.
- Operate safety equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts (if required), dock locks, and levelers.
- Maintain all assigned equipment, ensuring ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units are operational.
- Communicate daily with supervisors or dispatchers for delivery instructions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or U.S. military experience.
- Driver’s licenses: Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat endorsements (as required), current DOT medical card, and ability to drive a manual transmission.
- Current TWIC card or proof that it is in process (if required).
- Certification to operate pallet jacks; forklift certification if necessary.
- Minimum of 1 year liquid bulk hauling experience or 3 years commercial truck driving experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to operate technology‑based devices such as smart phones, tablets, and transportation platforms (e.g., Samsara).
- Residency within sixty miles of the worksite; working other locations requires prior approval.
- Drug screen, background check, and E‑Verify compliance.

- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Comfortable with general warehouse duties and equipment use.
- Detail‑oriented and customer‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Complete all required training sessions.
- Adhere to and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Represent Brenntag professionally at all times.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and following instructions in English; capable of basic arithmetic and handling units of measure.
- Willingness to operate power units with advanced camera and safety systems for compliance purposes.
- No supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Pass a pre‑employment DOT fit‑for‑duty exam.
- Sit and drive for extended periods.
- Step safely into and out of equipment.
- Load, move, set up, and break down equipment during delivery tasks.
- Lift up to 75 pounds; frequently move or pull up to 150 pounds.
- Wear respirator and all required personal protective equipment.
- Climb ladders and operate equipment to handle hazardous materials.
