Job description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products. Responsibilities include performing bulk and packaged deliveries, executing proper loading and unloading procedures, completing required documentation, and ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag’s safety standards. Your Role and Responsibilities
  • Daily operation and driving of a power unit (Class 8 tractors and lower) for chemical distribution.
  • Transport of HAZMAT and non-hazardous materials (both liquid and dry).
  • Logistics movements: outside delivery, in‑plant spotting, inter‑company transfers. Types of deliveries are:
    • Bulk deliveries of liquids and solids, including loading/unloading and paperwork.
    • Packaged deliveries: drums, IBCs, palletized material, supersacks – manage transport, transfer, securement, and paperwork.
  • Operate tractor, trailer, or service vehicle safely while complying with all DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag rules (site safety, packaging, labeling, placarding, inspection, logs, repair reporting).
  • Follow Brenntag operating procedures, work instructions, and safety policies on customer/vendor sites.
  • Certification required to operate pallet jacks (electric or manual); forklift and accessories certification accepted where required. Operate dock locks, levelers, and related equipment.
  • Proper care of assigned equipment: ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, tracking units. Maintain housekeeping and working order.
  • Maintain communication with supervisor/dispatcher for instructions.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or US military experience.
  • Candidates with chemical delivery experience may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
Driving Requirements
  • Must possess a Class "A" CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat endorsement as required.
  • Current DOT medical card.
  • If a respirator is required, must have no facial hair that interferes.
  • Current TWIC card or proof of application if required.
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission.
Preferred Driving Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year liquid bulk hauling experience or 3 years commercial truck driving experience.
  • Certification from an Accredited Commercial Driving Academy.
Other Job Requirements
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Comfortable with general warehouse duties and equipment use.
  • Detail‑ and customer‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Observe, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute instructions in English; write simple correspondence.
  • Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure.
  • Ability to learn and operate technology‑based devices (smartphones, tablets, platforms such as Samsara) for safety, compliance, and business operations.
  • Willingness to operate power units equipped with advanced camera and safety systems for compliance.
  • Must reside locally within 60 miles; lodging is not provided.
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must pass E‑Verify check.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • This job has no supervisory responsibility.
Physical Requirements
  • Pass a pre‑employment DOT fit‑for‑duty exam.
  • Sit and drive for long hours.
  • Step into and out of equipment safely.
  • Stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment while performing loading/delivery tasks.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Push, pull, or move up to 150 pounds frequently.
  • Wear a respirator (if required) and all other personal protective equipment.
  • Load and unload hazardous material.
  • Climb a ladder.
