POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the position is to deliver residents to and from appointments in a safe, comfortable and timely manner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Demonstrates commitment to company’s mission, values and standards of ethical behavior.

2. Models a positive and professional image that emulates the organization's mission and encourages a spirit of cooperation with co-workers. Provides assistance to co-workers and promotes teamwork by sharing information useful

to achieving desired results.

3. Ensures that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect, and their rights are protected at all times.

4. Respects and upholds all residents’ personal and property rights whenever carrying out duties, including knocking before entering a resident's room.

5. Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

6. Delivers residents to and from appointments without delay or incident, and in comfort.

7. Plans and coordinates transportation for all outings for residents.

8. Runs errands for facility within reasonable time limits.

9. Understands resident mobility issues and applies utmost care and responsibility in transporting them to prevent injury or discomfort.

10. Calls supervisor to report any difficulties in making pick-up/drop offs.

11. Follows all California transportation laws and Company policies and procedures when operating vehicle, including Vehicle Safety Checklist procedures.

12. Refill vehicles with fuel as necessary.

13. Notifies Maintenance and Administration if vehicle(s) need maintenance or repair work.

14. Is attuned to needs of residents, and reports changes or issues to supervisor and/or Nursing.

15. May perform maintenance, housekeeping, central supply or other facility functions as needed.

16. Reports the following in accordance with established facility procedures and regulatory standards: accidents and incidents; resident grievances, complaints, allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property;

occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals; concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance including but not limited to hazardous conditions and equipment.

17. Adheres to state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures; HIPAA confidentiality standards of

resident and facility information; Infection Control, Universal Precautions, OSHA and safety standards; and established safety precautions and regulations in the performance of tasks and the use of equipment and supplies.

18. Attends orientation, in services and meetings as required. Participates in OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazardous communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard.

19. Takes responsibility for staying updated on new regulations, best practices and internal policies and procedures.

20. Demonstrates knowledge of facility and departmental quality improvement activities. Recommends to Supervisor any equipment and supplies needed for the department as well as any departmental improvements.

21. Utilizes most efficient, safe and cost effective techniques and methods, and uses supplies and equipment in most efficient manner to minimize waste.

23. Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ driving experience; previous work experience as a driver preferred

2. Experience working with geriatric population desirable

3. Must have valid driver’s license, clear DMV record, and be insurable under Company's insurance policy

18. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently and comprehensibly enough to perform the essential functions of the job.
