Job summary

Consolidated Electrical Distributors in Michigan City, IN is seeking a Driver to perform local-area deliveries, loading/unloading, and order fulfillment. You will drive company vehicles, inspect and maintain them, and support warehouse operations while ensuring professional service to customers.

Applicants must be 21+, have a valid license and a clean driving record, and be able to lift up to 70 pounds. Proficiency with basic tech and English is required; some box truck experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ and able to drive a commercial vehicle with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds during loading and unloading.
• Must be able to read, write and perform basic math for orders and paperwork.
• Ability to operate a smartphone, tablet or computer for routes and records.
• Good English reading/writing skills and communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Legally and safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driving record that meets company standards.
• Load all order fulfillment materials onto truck for delivery and unload at delivery.
• Deliver/pick up merchandise to/from customers and suppliers promptly and professionally.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance on company vehicle.
• Communicate any vehicle mechanical problems to direct supervisor.
• Receive, ship, fulfill orders, wire cutting, and other warehouse functions.
• Operate a computer and smartphone.

Description

Summary:

Delivery drivers make local-area deliveries to customer facilities and job sites. Drivers complete job duties by preparing, loading, unloading, operating and cleaning a truck; maintaining records; and helping to develop sales. Drivers also assist in the warehouse as needed with order fulfillment, receiving, wire cutting, and other relevant tasks.

Reports to: Profit Center Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years old or older as we have a commercial vehicle in our fleet
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift 70 pounds
• Ability to inspect, maintain, and safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Ability to load and unload a delivery truck from ground level or platform in a variety of warehouse and construction worksite situations.
• Ability to read and do math to correctly access warehouse materials for order picking, properly deliver orders, and correctly complete all paperwork for deliveries and pick-ups.
• Ability to operate a smartphone, tablet, and/or computer with relevant applications
• Able to proficiently speak, read, write, and understand English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional driving experience (box trucks preferred)
• Warehouse experience

Working Conditions:

Warehouse environment and outdoor conditions including sometimes extreme hot/cold temperatures. Deliveries in all weather conditions including during extreme hot/cold, rain, ice, snow, and other seasonal conditions. Most time is expected to be in a delivery vehicle and loading/unloading material and working in the warehouse. Our delivery vehicles utilize front, rear, and driver-facing camera systems.

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for this position is $18 to $18 hourly.
