The Institute for Human Services (IHS) in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks a dedicated Shuttle Driver to provide safe, friendly transport for clients between IHS Service Centers and designated locations. You will greet guests, maintain a courteous demeanor, and follow all safety rules and policies to ensure a positive experience.

Required is a valid Hawaii Driver’s License with a clean driving record and at least 6 months of shuttle or van driving experience.

Qualifications

  • Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 6 months shuttle bus or passenger van driving experience.
  • No drug or alcohol related convictions in the past 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver clients and guests of IHS to appropriate destinations in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Greet each client/guest personally in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Operate the shuttle in accordance with all laws and regulations while following company policy to ensure a safe and pleasant operating environment.
  • Assist clients/guests to load and unload belongings, enter and exit vehicle and miscellaneous needs.

The Institute for Human Services (IHS) is Hawaii's most comprehensive human services agency dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness. For over 45 years, we've been at the forefront of creating tailored solutions for those in crisis, offering a continuum of care that includes emergency shelters, housing programs, health services, employment assistance, and outreach.

The Driver provides friendly, efficient service during the shuttle process, transporting clients from designated locations and IHS Service Centers in a safe and timely manner. This role establishes and maintains clear communications with other IHS staff and management team to ensure a consistent, excellent level of guest service.

Compensation:

Starting from $18.00 hourly, actual pay commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
  • Deliver clients and guests of IHS to appropriate destinations in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Greet each client/guest personally in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Operate the shuttle in accordance with all laws and regulations while following company policy to ensure a safe and pleasant operating environment.
  • Assist clients/guests to load and unload belongings, enter and exit vehicle and miscellaneous needs.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Good working knowledge of driver safety rules and regulations.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently and interact with a diverse population of individuals needing services from IHS.
  • Able to establish a professional relationship with the community, including but not limited to, churches and businesses and clients/guests utilizing IHS services.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and a clean drivers abstract.
  • Minimum of 6 months of shuttle bus and/or passenger van driving experience.
  • No more than 2 moving violations and/or at-fault accidents on driving record in the past 3 years, and no drug or alcohol related convictions on driving record in the past 5 years (i.e., DUI/DWI).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Generally Monday through Friday. Hours include some evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization.
