Job summary

Qualifications

The Maintenance Assistant provides assistance with and/or coordinate the corrective and preventative maintenance of IHS facilities to positively impact the service sites. This position responds timely to work orders and ensure repairs are completed safely. The Maintenance Assistant resolves immediate operational and/or safety concerns as it relates to the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and property.

Compensation

Starting from $20 up to $30 hourly, actual pay commensurate with experience.

  • 1 - 1.5 years of experience: $20.00 hourly
  • 2+ years of experience: from $21 up to $30 hourly
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
  • Inspect facilities and vehicles daily, document according to IHS guidelines to ensure CARF and regulatory compliance; correct and report any problems or make recommendations to facilities management.
  • Provide minor repairs, assists with major repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as assigned (including but not limited to broken windows, bathroom/shower maintenance, roofs, building structures, floors, handrails, stairs, lighting systems, electrical units, fabrication of wood/metal, etc.).
  • Clean, care for, maintain and service equipment and tools to ensure the safe usage and availability of equipment needed for day to day operations.
  • Perform grounds related functions and assist with painting tasks to maintain attractive facilities and grounds areas.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry methods, practices, tools and materials used in building maintenance and repair specialties.
  • Understand basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions to adhere to safety practices and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution.
  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, patience and commitment to mission.
  • Able to work independently, is flexible and able to multitask to meet deadlines; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum one year of maintenance experience (2-3 years of experience preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract.
  • Basic computer skills; able to navigate Google email, Microsoft applications and databases.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Regular Full-Time classification. Generally Monday through Friday, hours may include some evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization.
