Job summary

Dorman Products in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a manufacturing associate to support driveshaft production. You will follow detailed work orders, operate production systems, and maintain equipment to ensure quality and efficiency on the shop floor.

This role requires basic math, good organizational skills, and the ability to work in a hot, noisy environment with physical lifting requirements. Prior driveshaft experience is preferred but not always required.

Qualifications

• Must have good organizational, communication and math skills.
• Intermediate mechanical skills with machinery and tools.
• Basic computer skills including internet and scanning systems.
• Physical ability to lift, pack, stack and wrap up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Standing, walking, and handling tasks in a production environment with moderate noise and high summer temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and use proper PPE.
• Follow verbal and written instructions and read work orders/dimensional info.
• Operate production systems via computers, tablets and scanners.
• Demonstrate knowledge of assigned work areas, tools and equipment.
• Perform general maintenance on machinery and tools at certified stations.
• Maintain productivity above 75% of shift target and quality yield at 95% or higher.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Perform technical duties related to the manufacturing of driveshafts

Primary Duties

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and utilize proper PPE as instructed.
• Follow verbal and written instructions with the ability to interpret work orders and dimensional information.
• Utilize production systems via computers, tablets, scanners, etc.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of 1 or multiple assigned work areas, tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform general maintenance on machinery and tools at certified stations.
• Maintain a productivity level above 75% of the shift’s individual goal, unless otherwise directed.
• Maintain a quality yield % of 95% or greater, unless otherwise directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Physical Requirement: Must be able to properly lift, pack, stack and wrap up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to touch, grasp, handle and feel items. Noise level is usually moderate. Production floor temperature may reach up to 90+ degrees during the summer months.

Education / Experience

• At least 2 years of prior driveshaft manufacturing experience, or 90 days with PTI.
