Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and implement assembly processes for transmission and drive unit manufacturing. You will lead equipment development projects from concept through production, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to deliver robust, safe, and high-quality manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities include developing cost estimates, managing schedules, and maintaining essential documentation (PFD, PFMEA, PCP, BOE/BOP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of assembly or machining process development experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on plant floor experience.
• Solid knowledge of process engineering disciplines and product development processes.
• Experience managing equipment development through design, build, installation, and launch.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, build, and implement machinery and tooling for transmission and drive unit manufacturing.
• Lead design, installation, and launch of equipment to enable high-quality parts production.
• Source and qualify assembly equipment and processes from concept through production.
• Develop cost estimates and manage program timing and budget to keep projects on track.
• Provide technical leadership to suppliers and vendors.
• Develop and implement advanced manufacturing process technologies.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation (PFD, PFMEA, PCP, BOE/BOP).
• Apply GD&T to ensure equipment and processes meet design requirements.
• Support process development with focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and launch readiness.
