Job summary

General Motors in Warren, Michigan is seeking a Press/Automation Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement and optimize stamping press and automation systems. You will drive innovative automation solutions, collaborate with controls engineering and IT, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across facilities.

Responsibilities include validating designs, performing complex analyses, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

3+ years developing and maintaining machinery in manufacturing, preferably stamping.
Knowledge of mechanical/electrical operation principles (mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics).
Experience coordinating design & construction activities in automotive facilities.
Experience with project management to handle budgets and schedules.
Proficient with MS Project and CAD tools listed above.
Integrity, initiative, and ability to handle ambiguity.
BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Systems, or CS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Specify, procure, develop, integrate, and validate press and automation systems in stamping plants.
Collaborate with controls engineering and IT to define system requirements and improve performance.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for press/automation issues.
Diagnose issues with engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to press and automation systems.
Train production staff on operation and maintenance of press and automation systems.
Document machine, equipment, and system design and implementation comprehensively.
Work with suppliers, plant personnel to implement cost reductions and improvements.
