Drilling Equipment Product Support Specialist

Location: Remote in the United States – West coast strongly preferred. Proximity to an international airport required.

Work Type: This role involves extensive travel, both nationally and internationally, up to 80%. The schedule is atypical to meet business needs, requiring flexibility outside standard hours. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors.

Sponsorship & Relocation: Not eligible for Visa sponsorship. Only candidates with existing work authorization in the US will be considered. Relocation assistance is not provided; local candidates preferred.

Mission: The Product Support Specialist for Surface and Exploration Drilling provides training and technical support for SED products and services. Responsibilities include real-time problem solving, system malfunctions, and design challenges related to application constraints.

Preferred Locations: Near service centers in Harrisburg PA, Sacramento CA, Tucson AZ, Temecula CA, Salt Lake City UT, or within 2-3 hours of an international airport. Remote work is supported.

The mining and construction industries offer unique challenges, including working in rugged outdoor environments. This position is safety-sensitive, emphasizing health and safety at all times.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deliver operations and maintenance training to improve efficiency for service centers, dealers, and customers.
  2. Use Epiroc documentation to ensure consistent messaging aligned with global standards.
  3. Test new product options to maximize longevity and performance.
  4. Mentor and train local personnel, maintaining Epiroc standards.
  5. Communicate product, technical, and training activities effectively with all stakeholders.
  6. Prepare documentation and reports as needed, following technical standards.
  7. Utilize communication systems like email, SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.
  8. Act as a backup for peers when needed.
  9. Enhance the troubleshooting skills of frontline technicians.
  10. Understand application challenges and environmental factors affecting product performance.
  11. Provide feedback to divisions via reporting systems.
  12. Support parts and service division to ensure customer satisfaction.
  13. Coordinate with departments to streamline processes and support activities.
  14. Promote ongoing technical and administrative training.
  15. Support warranty and administrative goals.
  16. Report key metrics to management for continuous improvement.
  17. Lead, manage, and coach team members in line with company culture.
  18. Maintain procedures for technical and operational support.
  19. Maintain professional communication with customers and staff.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Combination of education and industry experience; technical credentials or ability to achieve Epiroc credentials.
  • Experience with fluid power and electrical control systems.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines and compressors.
  • Understanding of mining processes and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of control and navigation systems used on OEM equipment.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • MSHA and Safe Start certifications or willingness to obtain them.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Technical writing skills for documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel, including underground and surface mining sites, primarily within the US, with some international travel, not exceeding 80% annually.
