Position Overview: Traf-Tex, Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Drill Operator to join our team. This position involves operating foundation drilling equipment to install high masts, light poles, and other vertical structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various field conditions and locations.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Drilling: Operate and maintain drilling equipment for foundation shafts based on specific depths and diameters (Dry & Slurry shafts). Monitor the equipment, maintain and manage the ground crew in a safe manner. Set up equipment on the jobsite and execute work plans. Assist with and contribute to job-site clean up and material handling when not operating the drill rig.
2. Pre-Drilling Surveys: Conduct pre-drilling surveys to determine the appropriate drilling path and identify potential obstacles or hazards. Evaluate ground conditions, equipment setup positions, and spatial needs for all trucks, equipment, and crew.
3. Utility Location: Ensure all utilities in the construction path are located and accounted for before drilling.
4. Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on drilling equipment, including fluid checks and visual inspections. Provide written inspection reports for any issues or repairs.
5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including daily logs and maintenance reports.
7. Communication: Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers to meet project requirements.
8. Training: Provide training and assistance to coworkers as needed.
9. Work Site Conditions: Jobsites are located at various construction sites, often requiring travel and out-of-town work.

Requirements – Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

• Physical Abilities: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs multiple times during a shift.
• Endurance: Capable of working at a sustained pace and producing quality work.
• Flexibility: Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, and on uneven surfaces.
• Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Safety Compliance: Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions and follow drug/alcohol policies.
• Medical Requirements: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring drug screenings.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in foundation drilling, with experience in slurry method drilling preferred. Proven track record as a Drill Rig Operator.
• Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to troubleshoot, read plans, and operate heavy equipment. Excellent communication skills for coordination with crew, vendors, contractors, and inspectors.
• Licenses: Valid Driver’s License.
• Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, good attendance, and accountability. Flexibility for overtime and weekends.
• Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
