Job Description

HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, in Baytown, TX, is looking for an IS Equipment Operator (CDL Required) to join their safety-conscious team! This team member is responsible for the safe and successful execution of jobs across all service lines and various other responsibilities. The Equipment Operator serves as a representative of HPC-Industrial in creating a continuous working relationship with clients and customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as safety representative responsible for safety policies and procedures of both the company and the customer, including operations, safety, equipment, emergency response, and administrative functions;
  • Hands-on operation of manual and automated hydroblasting equipment when required;
  • Operation of special equipment such as Ultra High Pressure pumps;
  • Operate equipment by energizing pumping systems and specialized hydroblasting, chemical cleaning equipment, vacuum trucks, and cutting tools;
  • Examine surfaces post-cleaning to ensure conformance to specifications;
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment used on the job;
  • Perform duties related to liquid vacuums, air machines, and jet rodders;
  • Supervise a crew of vacuum technicians;
  • Transport equipment and personnel to and from job sites;
  • Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain driver logs, and comply with vehicle and DOT policies;
  • Load and unload hoses and equipment;
  • Unload vacuum trucks at disposal sites;
  • Perform general field maintenance;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to execute a 180-degree rotary motion of the cervical spine for full head and neck movement;
  • Ability to operate double trigger hydroblast equipment with both hands;
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from scaffolding or platforms up to 200 feet;
  • Tolerance for confined spaces of at least five feet in diameter;
  • Ability to hold a 50 lb. thrust on a 66-inch pipe for at least one hour;
  • Capability to use negative pressure and air-supplied respirators;
  • Experience driving heavy equipment for extended periods;
  • Ability to wear protective clothing including Nomex coveralls, back belts, slickers, rubber boots, breathing masks, escape packs, and hard hats;
  • Ability to work under extreme climate conditions, including high heat and humidity or sub-zero temperatures;
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, exhaust, and pressurized fluids with respirator use when required;
  • Hearing protection required in noise levels exceeding 85 dBA.

What does it take to work for HPC-Industrial?

  • Vocational training, safety classes, and on-the-job experience;
  • Proficiency in English for safety instructions and emergency responses;
  • Valid driver’s license with CDL Class A or B and compliance with driving policies;
  • Knowledge of emergency equipment operation, such as fire extinguishers;
  • Experience with vacuum truck operation; smartphone required for Electronic Logging Device (ELD);
  • Knowledge of wet and dry vacuum equipment operation.
