Job summary

Summit Interconnect is seeking a full-time Drilling Operator in Schaumburg, IL to operate NC drilling machines and maintain high-precision drilling for PCB panels.

You will set up drills, load programs, align panels, and inspect results while keeping multiple machines productive and compliant with procedures. ITAR rules apply and candidates must be U.S. citizens or eligible for work. This role offers health and other benefits and requires strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate two or more NC drilling machines to drill low tolerance holes.
  • Set up machines, load NC programs, and align panels for drilling.
  • Inspect panels visually and mechanically, adjust as needed.
  • Keep machines near capacity output and assist others when possible.
  • Clean equipment and work area, log activities in system.

About the Role:

Under general supervision operates two or more numerically controlled machines simultaneously to drill low tolerance holes in panels. Independently performs complex and standard machine setups involving loading NC programs, aligning the pinning of the panels, visually and mechanically inspecting the panels, and making the required adjustments. Perform the necessary tasks to keep multiple machines at or near capacity output levels.

Responsibilities:
  • Select drills from planning sheet call out.
  • Set up drilling machine and make work zero corrections from the 4-point x-rays.
  • Operate more than one drill when conditions permit.
  • Help others when time allows.
  • Remove broken drills and fix shallow drilled holes.
  • Clean the drill equipment and work area.
  • Log in and out of the Proms computer.
  • Empty trashcans and put in proper recycle bin.
Required Skills:
  • General ability to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Must be able to cooperate and communicate effectively with management/supervisory staff.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively follow company systems and procedures.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in printed circuit board (PCB) industry will be preferred.
  • Understanding of industry standards and appropriate application
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the PCB industry is preferred but not required.
