Job summary

KnitWell Group in New York is seeking an Associate Designer for the Dresses category to drive design, development, and selection of fabrics, silhouettes, colors and patterns. You will assist with fabric research and see garments through to production, coordinating with design, product development, technical design and merchandising.

You’ll create sketches, maintain knowledge of the line, and manage technical packages while tracking changes and sharing updates with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ experience in Fashion Design, BA, Associates degree, or equivalent.
• Strong fashion, color and print sense.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Highly organized with capacity to anticipate change.
• Knowledge of design specifications (e.g. draping, pattern-making and CAD software).
• Proficient in Photoshop, Excel and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and select materials, silhouettes, colors and patterns for Dresses category.
• Assist in fabric research, development and fabricates basic core items seeing garments through to production.
• Manage technical package process, to include drawings, measurements and design detail specifications.
• Create new sketches using Adobe Illustrator and hand sketching.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the line and track changes.
• Coordinate all changes from Line Review and communicate to cross-functional teams.
• Identify seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities and merchandise trends.
• Design Presentation Boards; research competitive market and present results.
