Job summary

Tailored Brands in New York, NY is seeking an Associate Designer, Knits and Sweaters to translate the creative concepts of our design and sourcing teams into private-label products. The role requires a passion for men’s apparel, fabrics, and the full design process from sketching to final samples.

You will lead development, assemble CADs and tech packs, collaborate with design, product development and production, and guide fittings to ensure on-time delivery and a compelling merchandising story

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion/Textile Design with sweaters specialization preferred.
• 7+ years fully fashioned sweater and cut and sew design experience.
• Expert design, technical sketch, and conceptual skills with high attention to detail.
• Advanced sketching skills in Illustrator.
• Strong sense of silhouette, color, material, trim and taste level.
• Full understanding of technical knitting capabilities and garment construction.
• Strong organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PLM.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the entire product design process for all private labels including trend research, sourcing raw materials, stitch development, sketching, creating design boards, tech pack development, BOMs and fit.
• Translate brand aesthetics into exclusive products and ensure alignment with seasonal concepts and business strategy.
• Research and source knit fabrics and yarns from mills considering price points and aesthetics.
• Develop seasonally appropriate stitches and build an elevated collection for senior and cross-functional partners.
• Create development packages, CADs, design boards and trim BOMs in Excel to develop proto and showroom samples.
• Lead fittings with tech design and production teams and manage calendar and workflow.
