Tuckernuck is seeking a Technical Designer to join our New York City-based Design Team. This role focuses on translating seasonal dress concepts into production-ready garments with flawless fit and premium craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years of technical design experience focused on dresses.
• Advanced knowledge of construction, stitch types, yarn behavior, and machinery capabilities.
• Strong understanding of pattern making, grading, and fit for dresses.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and technical flat sketching.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization across multiple timelines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seasonal dresses, tops, and jacket design concepts into technically sound, production-ready specifications.
• Lead fit sessions: measure samples, provide fit comments, recommend pattern adjustments and guide vendors through revisions.
• Own and maintain dress tech packs with stitch/gauge details, specs, construction notes, and graded measurements.
• Collaborate with factories to troubleshoot construction issues, improve fit, and uphold aesthetic standards.
• Assess wear test results and integrate functional improvements into future dress designs.
• Monitor silhouette, yarn quality, stitch execution, and fit across dress styles.
• Support onboarding of new dress vendors and maintain clear vendor communication.
• Stay current on emerging techniques, yarn innovations, and sustainability in dress manufacturing.
• Organize dress fit samples: log, track, communicate priorities, prepare for fittings.
