Job summary

NBCUniversal in Glendale seeks an experienced front-end engineer to collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Production on web-based and native front-end solutions. You will participate in design reviews, rapid prototyping, and code reviews to continuously improve user experiences across production workflows.

The role requires 3+ years in front-end development with HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of programming in HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), Node.js, Python, Java, QT.
• Experience with front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc).
• Experience with automated unit and End-to-End tests.
• Strong understanding of responsive design and REST/WebSocket API integration.
• Ability to provide technical leadership to engineers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Production on web-based and native front end solutions.
• Engage in code reviews, design discussions, demos, and rapid prototyping.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and documented front-end code.
• Collaborate with backend teams to inform priorities and performance efforts.
• Deploy applications following studio standards and best practices.
• Gather requirements and participate in user observation to drive UX improvements.
• Follow UX methodologies and provide architecture guidance to junior engineers.
• Help maintain feature roadmaps for studio web applications.
• Translate complex Pipeline feature sets into actionable front-end work.

“What would you say you do here?”

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Production on the development of **** web-based and native application front end solutions
• Engage with fellow developers through active participation in code reviews, design discussions, demos, proposals, and rapid prototyping
• Dedication to an iterative development process driven by the goal to continuously improve the user experience across all types of production workflows
• Develop clean, maintainable, and documented solutions
• Collaborate with backend engineering teams through traces, metrics, and requirements to inform development priorities and to focus performance related development
• Deploy applications regularly adhering to studio standards and best practices
• Participate in requirements gathering to inform design and development
• Participate in user observation studies to be regularly evaluating how users work and identifying where improvements can be made
• Follow standard UX design methodologies throughout the development process
• Provide technical and architectural guidance to more junior engineers on team
• Collaborate with production and team’s project manager to devise and maintain feature roadmaps for studio web applications
• Act as a visual translator for complex Pipeline feature sets and requirements

• Experience building, packaging, and maintaining internal npm modules and shared UI component libraries across distributed teams
• Experience utilizing and auditing AI developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for code efficiency, security, and architectural integrity

Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.

Salary range: $125,000 - $155,000
