Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Drainage Project Engineer to support the Southwest Region with multiple Texas locations in Austin, Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler.

The role requires 4+ years of drainage and TxDOT experience and proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and related hydrology tools. You will design stormwater and soil erosion systems, develop hydrologic models, prepare plans and reports, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with subconsultants

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering is required; PE licensure preferred or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
4–6 years of drainage/water resources and TxDOT experience.
Experience with OpenRoads Designer, StormCAD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA.
Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Collect and analyze data for project plans and reports.
Design stormwater management, storm drain systems, and erosion/sediment control systems using engineering software.
Analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models for Transportation Improvement projects.
Prepare project plans, quantities, costs, and specifications.
Review quantity estimates, details, and drawings for conformance to requirements.
Mentor junior staff and oversee design activities; collaborate across disciplines.
