Job summary

The City of Copperas Cove seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to perform maintenance and repair of drainage ways and appurtenances, operating a wide range of heavy equipment.

Responsibilities include ditch maintenance, debris removal, and routine equipment upkeep, along with assisting the Street Department. Supervisory duties may apply, and adherence to safety and work orders is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• One (1) year of light and heavy/construction equipment operation and maintenance; or, Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License by date of hire with insurable record.
• CDL Class A / B certification required within nine (9) months of date of employment.
• A state approved herbicide applicators license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and tools for maintenance, installation and remediation of City Drainage Systems.
• Perform ditch maintenance, tree and brush removal, trash removal, routine equipment maintenance and related labor.
• Operate trucks of various sizes for loading, hauling and unloading of equipment, gravel and sand.
• Supervise crews involved in light equipment and labor for construction and maintenance projects.
• Assist in inspection and repair of drainage systems to ensure proper operation.
