Job description

Overview

Kimley-Horn's West Palm Beach, Florida (FL) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Surface Transportation/Roadway team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Support our growing Surface Transportation practice by working on drainage engineering and project management tasks for large and small-scale, public and private transportation projects.
  • Develop concepts, preliminary engineering, and final design for FDOT, municipal, and local agency projects.
  • Work in a dynamic team environment on projects including surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis and design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics, and green infrastructure planning and design.
  • Prepare hydraulic/hydrology studies, drainage reports, design documents, and plans and specifications for transportation projects.
  • Engage in technical writing such as memorandums, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (including CLOMR/LOMR to FEMA), and master plans.
  • Assist with developing scopes of work, budgets, final design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Build meaningful internal and external professional relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with industry professionals, jurisdictions, and contractors.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of relevant roadway/highway drainage design experience.
  • Municipal roadway drainage design experience required; FDOT experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of local agency and FDOT design standards and specifications.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (ArcHydro experience a plus), ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and SWMM.
  • Effective communication skills with clients, sub-consultants, and utility companies.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, with a sense of urgency for high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and teams.
