Job description

A Houston-based civil engineering firm is looking for a Water Resources Project Manager to help lead and grow its Houston water resources team. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a senior-level drainage/H&H professional who wants to stay technically involved while taking on greater responsibility for projects, clients, and junior staff.

The team has an active drainage and water resources workload supporting public-sector clients throughout the Houston area and Central Texas. The role will oversee and mentor Project Engineers and EITs while remaining involved in project delivery and client relationships.

What You'll Do
  • Help oversee the Houston drainage/water resources team, including Project Engineers and EITs
  • Manage and provide technical oversight on active H&H, drainage, and flood control projects
  • Work directly with clients and help maintain strong long-term relationships
  • Support project scopes, schedules, budgets, proposals, and deliverables
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers
  • Work on drainage and flood control projects for local government and public-sector clients
  • Collaborate across disciplines, with opportunities to gain exposure to transportation and other areas of civil engineering
  • Depending on your interests, contribute to client development and business development efforts
What They're Looking For
  • 10+ years of water resources, drainage, H&H, or flood control experience
  • Texas PE
  • Strong technical background in drainage/water resources
  • Experience leading projects and/or mentoring junior staff
  • Experience working with public-sector clients preferred
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Someone who enjoys collaborating across disciplines rather than working in a silo
Why This Opportunity

Compensation is flexible based on experience and the value you bring. Senior-level employees are eligible for a bonus structure, with opportunities for increased compensation as you take on additional responsibility and demonstrate your value to the team.

The role also offers a flexible hybrid schedule and flexible hours- there is no rigid schedule as long as the work is getting done and the team is supported.

This could be a strong fit for a senior H&H professional who wants more ownership, leadership responsibility, and earning potential without stepping completely away from the technical side of the work.
