Airco Service Company in Troy, IL is seeking a Drain Cleaning Specialist to support residential, commercial, and light industrial plumbing service work across the St. Louis Metro East.

You will perform drain cleaning, diagnose clogs, operate cable machines and other equipment, and work in a hands-on service role. We value dependable, mechanically minded candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform drain cleaning and sewer line clearing for various customers.
• Diagnose clogged drains, backups, slow drains, and related issues.
• Operate drain cleaning equipment such as cable machines, snakes, and augers.
• Support camera inspections, drain locating, and basic troubleshooting as experience allows.
• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and team members.
• Explain findings and next steps to customers.
• Maintain accurate job notes, photos, and service documentation.
• Keep tools, equipment, vehicle, and work areas organized.
• Follow safety procedures on every jobsite and use PPE properly.
• Assist plumbers when needed on broader service work.
• Represent Airco with professionalism and a customer-first attitude.

Drain Cleaning Specialist

Location: Troy, IL / St. Louis Metro East
Compensation: $22-$30/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, field-based; overtime and on-call opportunities as needed

Airco Service Company is hiring a Drain Cleaning Specialist to support residential, commercial, and light industrial plumbing service work across the St. Louis Metro East. This is a strong opportunity for someone with hands-on drain, sewer, plumbing, maintenance, or labor experience who wants steady work, training, and a long-term path in the mechanical trades.

Airco has been serving the St. Louis Metro East for decades with HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing services. Our team is known for quality work, practical problem-solving, and taking care of customers the right way. We are looking for someone dependable, mechanically inclined, and willing to work hard in a hands-on service role.

This role is a fit for an experienced drain technician, but we are also open to a high-potential laborer, plumbing helper, maintenance tech, or mechanically minded candidate who has the work ethic and attitude to learn.

What You'll Do

• Perform drain cleaning and sewer line clearing for residential, commercial, and light industrial customers
• Diagnose clogged drains, sewer backups, slow drains, floor drains, sinks, tubs, toilets, and related plumbing issues
• Operate drain cleaning equipment such as cable machines, snakes, augers, sewer machines, and related tools
• Support camera inspections, drain locating, and basic troubleshooting as experience allows
• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and internal team members throughout the day
• Explain findings clearly and help customers understand recommended next steps
• Maintain accurate job notes, photos, and service documentation
• Keep company tools, equipment, vehicle, and work areas clean and organized
• Follow safety procedures on every jobsite, including proper PPE and equipment handling
• Assist plumbing/service technicians when needed on broader service or repair work
• Represent Airco with professionalism, reliability, and a customer-first attitude

What We're Looking For

• Experience in drain cleaning, sewer work, plumbing, maintenance, construction, labor, HVAC, or another hands-on trade
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized drain and sewer equipment
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, carrying equipment, and working in tight or dirty areas
• Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record
• Good communication skills with customers and teammates
• Dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and pride in doing the job correctly
• Ability to work independently once trained while knowing when to ask for support
• Comfortable using a phone, tablet, or basic software to document jobs and communicate with dispatch
• Willingness to work overtime or on-call rotations as business needs require

Preferred Experience

• Prior drain cleaning, sewer, or plumbing service experience
• Experience with sewer cameras, drain locating, hydro-jetting, or heavy-duty cabling equipment
• Plumbing apprentice, plumbing helper, or maintenance technician background
• Experience working in customers' homes, commercial buildings, or occupied facilities
• OSHA, safety training, or other trade-related certifications
