Job summary

HYDAC is seeking a Drafter / Engineering Technician to design and develop products using CAD tools, interpret drawings, and prepare detailed assembly/BOM documentation. You will support Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing with feasibility studies and cost estimates.

You will collaborate with Lab Technicians on tests and analyze results, while maintaining engineering drawings and complying with quality procedures. An Associate degree or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required.

• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge required.
• Experience with drafting and engineering documentation.
• Ability to develop drawings and BOMs from specifications.

Responsibilities

• Draft and develop product designs using CAD software.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing.
• Review customer requirements for feasibility and cost implications.
• Develop catalogs and promotional materials with engineering input.
• Collaborate with Lab Technicians on tests and verification results.

The Drafter / Engineering Technician will be responsible for designing and developing products using software. They will determine design factors (size, arrangements, shape, etc). Additionally, they will provide technical support and handle drafting work (assembly, detail drawings, Bill of Materials, etc).

You will make an impact in this role by:

• Providing technical support for the Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing departments.
• Reviewing Sales and Marketing information and/or customer requirements and advise on feasibility and estimated cost of the potential products.
• Participating in the development of product catalogs and promotional literature.
• Working with Lab Technicians on product performance and verification tests, conduct tests if needed and analyze test results in conjunction with Project Engineers.
• Assisting the Quality Department in the development of Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Developing and draw assembly and detail drawings, conceptual designs, Bill of Materials using specifications provided by the Project Engineers.
• Maintaining and update drawing, drawing files and Engineering Library.
• Following established quality system Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To be considered for the Drafter / Engineering Technician role, you must have the following minimum qualifications:

• Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
• Blueprint Information.
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerance is required. Familiar with computer-based systems operation.
• Self-Starter and Motivator: Able to develop effective relationships with distributors, regional sales managers, and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
• Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to sure database software, design software, development software, Project Management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.

Education and Experience

• Associate's degree or equivalent required.
• 6 months-1 year experience in a related environment preferred.
