Job summary

Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions is seeking a Drafter / CAD Designer for an onsite role with a family-owned manufacturer in Racine, WI. You’ll turn architectural plans into 3D models and detailed production drawings for millwork, cabinetry, fixtures, and displays.

Use SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD to interpret blueprints, ensure manufacturability, and collaborate with engineering and production. Pay is $28–$35/hour with overtime, benefits, and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

Job description

We’re partnering with a growing, family-owned manufacturer in the Racine area looking to add a Drafter / CAD Designer to its engineering team.

This is a hands-on drafting role focused on taking architectural plans and design concepts and turning them into 3D models and detailed production/shop drawings for custom retail fixtures, displays, millwork, casework, and related products.

This is not a traditional mechanical or structural engineering position. The ideal candidate understands how things are actually built and can translate design intent into something the manufacturing team can produce.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Create 3D models, production drawings, and shop drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
• Interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements
• Develop drawings for custom millwork, cabinetry, casework, retail fixtures, displays, and related products
• Incorporate wood construction, hardware, and occasional metal components into designs
• Work on a variety of projects ranging from straightforward casework to highly customized retail displays
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable
• Make revisions based on project requirements and internal design reviews
• Potentially cross-train into programming and other technical areas based on interest and ability

What They’re Looking For

Must-Have

• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and blueprints
• Understanding of millwork, cabinetry, casework, woodworking, fixtures, or similar construction methods
• Ability to turn concepts and architectural information into detailed, manufacturable drawings
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Preferred

• Experience designing or drafting retail fixtures, displays, architectural millwork, cabinetry, or casework
• Associate degree in CAD, drafting, engineering technology, or a related field

A four-year engineering degree is not required.
