Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited PT program is required.
  • Enrollment in final year of DPT program is required.
  • Licensure in MA is required prior to start as licensed PT (DPT strongly preferred after 2016).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in reaching maximum physical function following PT evaluations and test results.
  • Interpret evaluations to determine goals and plans for treatment.
  • Administer manual therapies and supervise patient exercises.
  • Instruct, encourage, and aid patients in performing activities and using assistive devices.
  • Document goals, progress, and plans for reevaluation; discuss plans with patient and family.
  • Supervise PTAs according to policy and state regulations.
