Job summary

Ring Container Technologies in Valdosta, GA, is seeking a Downstream Production Operator to run downstream production machinery safely and efficiently, document activities, and participate in preventive maintenance.

You will follow lock-out/tag-out, wear PPE, observe GMP, address unsafe conditions, record quality checks, and coordinate with maintenance and production teams to meet OEE and customer quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and downstream equipment changeovers per TPM/SMED guidelines.
  • Maintain CMMS records and document parts usage and maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Production staff to meet OEE and quality targets.
  • Engage in housekeeping and cleanliness per Master Cleaning/Sanitization schedules.

Job Purpose

To operate Downstream production machinery safely and efficiently; maintain appropriate documentation and communicate ideas and problems to appropriate staff; perform scheduled preventative maintenance and downstream equipment changeovers; responsible for producing best quality product. In addition to the following duties, this position performs the responsibilities of the Production Associate.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all downstream equipment to meet or exceed company overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) expectations and customer quality expectations.
  • Follow lock‑out/tag‑out policy, wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and observe all good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Operate all fire extinguishers safely and proactively address unsafe conditions on production equipment.
  • Report all unsafe acts or conditions to the shift production supervisor immediately.
  • Use only approved tools; utility knives will not be used on the production floor.
  • Participate in safety training as scheduled and provided by the company.
  • Obey all machine guards and safety warnings while operating equipment.
  • Produce and/or pack the best quality product, ensuring all production meets or exceeds customer standards and expectations.
  • Label and tag all products properly and place non‑conforming products on hold with proper documentation.
  • Collect quality measurements as directed and record all quality checks in the NWA Quality Monitor or plant‑specific form at scheduled intervals.
  • Obtain and record all raw material lot numbers as required.
  • Communicate out‑of‑specification conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as outlined by the plant PM program.
  • Proactively address machine inefficiencies during preventative maintenance and maintain downstream equipment in showroom condition after maintenance.
  • Identify equipment improvement areas and tag components or parts that need repair or replacement following TPM guidelines.
  • Address housekeeping issues on the production floor and with production equipment.
  • Perform scheduled downstream production equipment changeovers as outlined by the plant production schedule and achieve limited downtime as described in SMED procedures.
  • Ensure production equipment is safe and efficient after each changeover.
  • Maintain sufficient records to support CMMS (MicroMain) and record parts removed from inventory on appropriate documentation.
  • Notify maintenance manager when parts inventory becomes low or reaches a reorder point.
  • Complete required paperwork and/or electronic data entry for all Micromain work orders and generate quick tickets for emergency repairs.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager regarding production equipment training and employee development, provide training suggestions, and complete machine and task‑specific training within the described timeframe.
  • Communicate problems, progress reports, and continuous improvement ideas to management, maintenance, and production personnel.
  • Promote and participate in good housekeeping habits to ensure plant appearance exceeds management and customer expectations.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks as outlined in the Master Cleaning Schedule, and line sanitization tasks as outlined in the Master Sanitization Schedule.
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times, empty garbage cans at shift conclusion, sweep and/or mop production floor, and clean equipment as needed.
  • Document machine or process changes, perform downstream operator checklists, and maintain accurate production reporting documentation.
  • Actively participate in plant teams and activities, including safety, quality, sustainability, community involvement, OEE, maintenance, employee wellness, brainstorming, and continuous improvement, to create and maintain a world‑class environment.
  • Engage in personal development by establishing SMART goals, attending regular manager meetings, volunteering for improvement teams, requesting additional training, and seeking higher education opportunities.
Experience, Education, and Technical Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism, self‑motivation, and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Successful completion of entrance examinations and interviews.
