Job Purpose
Operate production machinery safely and efficiently, maintain documentation, communicate issues, perform preventive maintenance and repairs, participate in equipment changeovers, and produce highest‑quality products.
Safety
- Follow all safety and health regulations as required by company policies.
- Ensure safe operation of downstream equipment to meet or exceed safety culture.
- Use Lockout/Blockout/Tagout procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Address unsafe conditions and report to Shift Production Supervisor.
- Participate in scheduled safety training.
Daily Operations
- Monitor and explain deviations from expected Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Complete machine‑specific training and operator checklists as documented.
- Collect and record quality measurements; correct deviations to meet specifications.
- Monitor SPC charts and respond to deviations.
- Communicate problems, progress, and improvement ideas to management, maintenance, and production staff.
- Perform maintenance tasks per Maintenance Manager’s instructions and machine malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot machine and process issues.
- Develop personally by setting SMART goals, requesting regular meetings, and seeking training and education opportunities.
- Suggest training topics and participate in good housekeeping to exceed plant appearance standards.
- Ensure daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks are performed per the Master Cleaning Schedule.
- Maintain accurate production reporting documentation.
- Participate actively in plant teams and activities covering safety, quality, sustainability, community involvement, OEE, maintenance, wellness, brainstorming, and continuous improvement.
- Operate Powered Industrial Truck, Boom Lift, and Scissor Lift per OSHA regulations.
Quality / GMP / Food Safety
- Produce and pack products that meet or exceed company and customer quality expectations.
- Label, tag, and record all products and raw material lot numbers.
- Complete all quality checks and record them in Quality Monitor or plant forms.
- Place non‑conforming products on hold with proper hold protocol.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and perform line sanitization tasks per the Master Sanitization Schedule.
- Report quality, food safety, GMP, and food defense issues to supervisors or management.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled production equipment changeovers and prevent OEE impact.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks per the PM program and manage them in CMMS.
- Generate work orders and proactively address machine inefficiencies during maintenance.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and in showroom condition post‑maintenance.
- Continuously evaluate equipment for improvement opportunities and tag required components.
- Record parts removed from inventory and notify Maintenance Manager when inventory is low.
Experience, Education, and Technical Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Successful completion of entrance examinations and interviews.
- Sense of urgency, accountability, professionalism, self‑motivation, and a focus on business improvement.
- Ability to serve as Person In Charge in the absence of management.
