Job summary

MB HAYNES Corporation in Asheville, NC is seeking an entry-level helper to assist crews in constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground traffic signal and roadway lighting systems. You will prepare job sites, handle tools and materials, and help ensure safety and efficiency on site.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, a positive attitude, reliable attendance, teamwork, and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Must have a positive, cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
• Must be able to get along with fellow workers, inspectors, customers and the public.
• Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and maintaining safe work zones (e.g., flagging traffic, signs, cones).
• Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, and materials.
• Pull ropes and guide electrical cables during installation.
• Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
• Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas.
• Assist with framing poles, installing hardware, and preparing underground conduit.
• Dig holes and trenches using manual or powered tools.
• Handle disposal of old equipment and debris from job sites.
• Observe and follow safety procedures and company regulations.
• Learn and apply basic knowledge of electrical systems and utility operations.
• Report equipment issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
