Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Process mail, packages, and deliveries; distribute to RSOs.
  • Maintain front desk area and lobby cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with events and special projects as assigned.
  • Handle ticket sales and distribution of materials; oversee pickups.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information per university policy.

DOSO Front Desk Assistant

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced DOSOFront Desk Assistant at its Detroit campus location.

General Purpose:

Support the Dean of Students Office by managing front deskoperations, assisting students, faculty, and staff, and maintaininga welcoming and organized office environment. This role alsoincludes overseeing the Makerspace, ensuring safety and positiveinteractions of guests and cleanliness of the space. This positionrequires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail,and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Specific Duties:
  • Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors both inperson and over the phone in a courteous and professionalmanner.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and transfer calls to theappropriate staff members or departments.
  • Provide information and assistance to students regarding officeservices, campus resources, and university policies andprocedures.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, anddeliveries.
  • Distribute packages to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)upon delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Dean of StudentsOffice front desk area and lobby.
  • Assist with special projects and events as assigned by theWarrior Life Coordinator.
  • Handle ticket sales and the distribution of blue/green booksand Scantrons.
  • Oversee the pick-up process for the Warrior Rewardsprogram.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordancewith university policies.
  • Arrive to shifts on time in appropriate attire.
  • Maintain open communication with the Warrior Life Coordinatorregarding work-related issues.
  • Make necessary arrangements to attend all mandatory trainingsessions.
  • Serve as a positive role model for other students by complyingwith and supporting University policies and procedures.
  • Act as a role model of inclusion by providing equitabletreatment and customer service to all guests.
  • Possess strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonalskills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Seek answers to questions that are not known through researchmaterials or by asking professional staff members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams,Teams Shifts, Outlook).
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and/orexperience required; previous relevant experience is desirable.Bachelor’s degree preferred.
