Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will develop highly complex, individualized treatment plans for radiation therapy and collaborate with a team of four other dosimetrists.

The role includes adherence to SOPs and regulations, participation in QA activities, and opportunities to mentor residents and trainees in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Successful completion of a JRCERT-accredited Medical Dosimetry program.
• Current certification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by MDCB.
• Clinical experience in radiation oncology treatment planning; Eclipse/Aria experience preferred.
• Proficiency with a broad range of disease sites and treatment techniques.
• Ability to independently evaluate treatment plans and collaborate with clinicians.
• Billing, Coding, & Documentation Integrity for regulatory reimbursement.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology at UChicago Medicine is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will be able to work independently under the general supervision of the Chief of Clinical Physics to develop highly complex, individualized treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy, while working collaboratively with a team of four other dosimetrists.

The position is responsible for performing clinical duties in strict compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), institutional policies, and applicable Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regulations. In addition to managing individual patient assignments, the successful candidate will contribute to departmental workflow improvement initiatives and participate in quality assurance activities. The position also provides opportunities to support education and mentorship of medical physics residents, dosimetry trainees, and other clinical learners.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary radiation oncology environment.

While the position is for an experienced certified dosimetrist, candidates who have recently graduated from a JRCERT-accredited Medical Dosimetry program and are eligible for the MDCB certification examination are encouraged to apply (with commensurate salary). After the probation term (6 months) a remote work schedule of 1-2 days a week is provided.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.

Desired qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Successful completion of a JRCERT-accredited Medical Dosimetry program.
• Current certification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
• Demonstrated clinical experience in radiation oncology treatment planning. Clinical experience in Eclipse/Aria environment is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in treatment planning for a broad range of disease sites and treatment techniques.
• Demonstrated competency with advanced treatment techniques, including 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, TBI, and SBRT.
• Ability to independently evaluate treatment plans, identify dosimetric and clinical issues, and collaborate effectively with radiation oncologists and medical physicists.
• Billing, Coding, & Documentation Integrity: ability to audit and execute accurate technical documentation required for billing, coding, and regulatory reimbursement compliance relative to the submitted procedure codes.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
