Job summary

CSL Plasma in Champaign, IL is seeking healthcare professionals to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. Under supervision, you will interview donors, perform medical history reviews, and determine eligibility to donate plasma.

You will provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, respond to questions with Center Medical Director, review test results, and counsel donors about reactive results, escalating cases per SOPs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign medical school, must be licensed as a physician or state EMT certification.
• For NY: current state RN/MD/DO license or reciprocal state certification.
• Minimum of one year in a health care environment.
• Experience in plasma/whole blood collection center preferred.
• Ability to assess physical heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medications per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine eligibility.
• Consult with the Center Medical Director on donor questions.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up.
• Provide routine care per SOPs and escalate critical situations to appropriate medical staff.
