Job summary

United Way of Metro Chicago in Chicago, IL is seeking a Manager, Annual & Leadership Giving to lead direct-response fundraising and cultivate relationships with leadership donors. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, you will manage a portfolio of about 100 leadership donors ($1,000–$9,999 annually) and coordinate donor networks and events with cross-functional teams.

This full-time exempt role offers a salary of $60,000–$65,000 and opportunities to deepen annual and major gift

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or combination of equivalent employment and education experience.
• Two to four years of experience in fundraising or a related field such as alumni relations, sales, marketing, or public relations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, reflecting a passion for the work of United Way.
• Collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage concurrent projects and day-to-day tasks effectively, with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships with donors and volunteers through clear and polished communication, excellent follow-through, sound judgment, discretion, and respect for confidential philanthropic decisions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office environment, with preference for database experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage direct-response fundraising, programmatic acquisition, renewal, and stewardship of leadership donors in partnership with the Director, Individual Giving.
• Manage a portfolio of roughly 100 individual leadership donors capable of moving to higher levels of giving.
• Support the planning and execution of select donor network activities by providing project coordination and operational support to the lead staff member.
• Use the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) to actively manage leadership-level donor engagement, including portfolio tracking, gift projections, next steps, and stewardship plans.
