Job summary

Cherry Hills Community Church seeks an Accounting Specialist to ensure accurate processing of donor contributions, accounts payable, reconciliations, and reporting. You will maintain records with proper internal controls, support the finance team, and prepare weekly and monthly financial activity.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 3–5 years of accounting experience, with strong Excel skills and discretion handling confidential donor information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field and 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, including debits/credits, coding, reconciliations, deposits, and journal entries.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for organizing, reconciling, and reporting financial data.
• Experience processing detailed financial transactions with accuracy and proper controls.
• Experience in nonprofit or church-contribution accounting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain records for donor contributions, accounts payable, and deposits.
• Ensure contributions are recorded to correct fund, ledger, department, and bank accounts.
• Prepare weekly income deposits, journal entries, and monthly close entries.
• Coordinate check distribution and vendor payments with proper separation of duties.
• Prepare financial reports, contribution summaries, and supporting schedules.
