Job summary

Woodland Park Zoo is seeking a Philanthropy Officer to grow donor relationships and meet revenue goals within the Advancement department. This hybrid role combines on-site donor engagement with remote work, and may require occasional weekends or evenings for events.

The ideal candidate builds long-term donor partnerships, communicates the zoo’s mission effectively, and manages donor portfolios with a data-driven approach to strategy and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two or more years in nonprofit fundraising or related training.
• Experience in philanthropy work, telephone fundraising, cold-calling, or tele-fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Identify mid-level, major, and principal donor relationships for the zoo.
• Develop new donor engagement opportunities and move prospects to deeper relationships.
• Articulate the zoo’s mission and values in donor conversations and written materials.
• Nurture relationships with lapsed donors to reactivate giving at mid-level or higher.
• Deepen relationships with current mid-level donors to increase giving.
• Meet annual revenue goals for the mid-level portfolio.
• Create timely gift-asks to strengthen donor partnerships.
• Conduct solicitations and give donor tours with the team.
