Job summary

Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) seeks an Advanced Practice/Authorization Support Coordinator to guide family advocates through donation conversations and notification processes. The role provides direct oversight of family conversations and deployment of FA staff, and serves as a clinical resource for assessment, intervention and trauma-informed communication.

Qualifications

• 4 years experience in a family service role with proven outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred, or one to two years of related education or work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education.
• Requires experience in working with families in crisis, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the flexibility to work odd hours.

Responsibilities

• Guide family advocates through donation conversations and notification process.
• Provide ongoing coaching, support and guidance to FA and staff involved in family conversation.
• Available for dual approaches when necessary telephonically.
• Handle emergent donation conversation telephonically while on AS call.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in field training in collaboration with family leadership and education departments.
• Participates in daily huddle calls when on call to help review and identify potential conversation.
• Maintains awareness of all activity, clinical triggers and potential conversation.
• Maintains knowledge of FAs Strength and skills for deployment needs.
• Works in collaboration with AOC, OCC and DSC team to optimize timing of family conversations.
• Responsible for verifying required documentations is completed on all conversation outcomes.
• Maintains current knowledge of educational and training requirements as well as best practices for obtaining authorization for organ and tissue donation.
• Maintains current knowledge of departmental documentation requirements and acts as a resource for team members.
