Job summary

The Shippensburg University Foundation seeks a Major Gifts Officer to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors. You will work with college deans and Foundation colleagues to develop fundraising strategies and advance university priorities.

Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, you will travel 40–60% of the time, manage 100–150 prospects, and help drive comprehensive fundraising efforts including annual and planned giving and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in major gifts, fundraising, development, sales, or related fields with demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships and achieve measurable results.
• Higher education or nonprofit fundraising experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to build lasting relationships with donors, volunteers, and campus partners.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors using donor-centered moves management.
• Develop individualized engagement strategies and conduct donor visits to secure philanthropic support aligned with donors' interests and University priorities.
• Collaborate with college deans, academic leaders, and Foundation colleagues to advance fundraising priorities and participate in annual giving, planned giving, capital initiatives, and corporate/foundation relations.
• Manage 100–150 prospects and travel approximately 40–60% of the time to conduct face-to-face donor visits and represent the SU Foundation at events.
