Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to ensure donor safety and plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, monitor reactions, review test results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings in coordination with physicians and Medical Affairs.

You will support vaccination programs and environmental health and safety initiatives while collaborating with a center team to maintain compliance and high-quality donor care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, education/ self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and review of SPE.
  • Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies with SOPs guidance.
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical issues.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER and EHS guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations.
