Job summary

CSL in Houston is seeking a medically skilled professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, perform medical history reviews, and collaborate with the Center Medical Director on suitability questions.

Responsibilities include reviewing test results to ensure continued donor eligibility, counseling donors on reactive results, and referring them for follow-up as needed while following

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• Foreign medical graduates must be licensed as a physician or state-certified as an EMT.
• For NY: state licensure/certification as RN, MD or DO in the applying state or a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year of relevant healthcare experience.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds and detect signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff within licensure/certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to address donor suitability questions.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability and assess donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer to community facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical situations to physicians or local providers.
