Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan is seeking a Retail Sales Associate to process textiles and wares, operate the cash register, and assist donors and customers. You will help maintain displays and stock shelves while providing friendly service.

This role offers both full-time and part-time shifts, requires handling payments and donations, and emphasizes safety and teamwork in a diverse store environment. Retail experience is a plus and forklift experience is preferred.

• Ability to operate a forklift is preferred.
• Able to work evenings, weekends, extended hours, and holidays.
• Ability to work with diverse staff, volunteers, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.
• Perform work safely by observing Goodwill safety policies and procedures.
• Interact with team members, clients, and customers professionally.
• Stock shelves and tables, run the register, assist customers and donors, and accept donations.
• Be knowledgeable of merchandise and pricing structures.
• Set up signs and displays to attract customers and promote sales.
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting with merchandise.
• Process transactions, payments, refunds, and end-of-day register processing.
• Maintain proper register balances and prevent unauthorized removal of merchandise.
• Wrap or bag merchandise and assist customers with transportation to vehicles.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized; rotate merchandise; ensure fitting rooms are tidy.
• Adhere to agency policies and promote Goodwill positively.
• Assist training of new staff and clients as directed by the supervisor.
