Job summary

The Salvation Army – Fairbanks Corps is seeking a Truck Driver (Non-CDL/DOT) to support warehouse operations and donations pickup in Fairbanks, Alaska. This full-time, 40-hour per week, non-exempt position emphasizes safe driving, routine vehicle inspections, and courteous service to customers and staff.

You will plan daily routes, assist with loading and unloading, help with pricing and stocking, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with minimum supervision.
• Licensed according to State of Alaska requirements to operate trucks such as used by The Salvation Army
• Ability to read map books, plan routes, and use a two-way radio.
• Skilled in providing excellent customer service by giving prompt and courteous assistance to internal and external customers.
• Current Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving and criminal history records.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily routing based on store drop offs of processed material.
• Provide daily inspections of trucks, checking air, water, oil and other items to ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Assist with onloading and offloading of merchandise.
• Work in cooperation with the Thrift Store Manager to assist with production needs including receiving, sorting, pricing, and stocking sales floor as needed.
• Operate Salvation Army Vehicle to pick up donations, load trash and unsellable merchandise and take to the Fairbanks Dump, and keep the vehicle cleaned and serviced.
• Act as a Salvation Army representative ensuring that customers are always treated courteously.
• Help to ensure warehouse/thrift store cleanliness inside and out.
• Assist with making and loading recycle bales.
• Assist with the loss prevention program, reporting all incidents of loss to management in a timely manner.
• Report safety hazards; assist in the protection of property, vehicles, and buildings.
• Instruct, supervise, and assist any ride-along assistant when loading and unloading merchandise, exhibiting that good work habits are taught by example as well as by instruction.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
