Job description

The Donation Program Manager I is a key representative of the We Are Sharing Hope SC Hospital Services department, tasked with promoting and advancing our mission within assigned hospitals. This role focuses on developing robust donation processes, building and maintaining collaborative relationships, and fostering a positive donation culture. The Manager is responsible for the effective implementation and management of donation programs to maximize organ and tissue donation opportunities within our service area. The ideal candidate can report in person to hospitals in York, Chester, and Lancaster counties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement donation programs across assigned hospitals to maximize organ and tissue donation opportunities.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with key individuals and departments within assigned hospitals to influence and drive change.
  • Actively engage stakeholders both proactively and during critical moments to ensure program success.
  • Leverage industry insights, organizational data, and direct observations to develop and implement annual strategic plans tailored to the needs of assigned hospitals.
  • Identify proactive development opportunities and encourage behavior changes aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Ensure strategic plans include clear goals and objectives that adhere to organizational standards and compliance requirements.
  • Receive and respond to referrals promptly; facilitate the smooth transfer of potential donor cases from referral to recovery by coordinating with internal teams and hospital partners.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to identify opportunities to approach families regarding donation.
  • Conduct compassionate conversations with families of potential donors, providing information and support throughout the decision-making process.
  • Support the regional team with donation activity.
  • Employ creative problem-solving skills to continuously refine and enhance donation processes.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and trusted resource for organ and tissue donation within assigned hospitals; provide support in policy development and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Act as a key resource for internal SHSC teams, offering guidance related to hospital interactions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of hospital activities and process improvement efforts.
  • Partner with hospital personnel to deliver comprehensive donation education to all staff levels involved in the referral process.
  • Schedule and manage both ad‑hoc and routine meetings focused on organ and tissue donation; secure invitations to relevant hospital meetings.
  • Conduct timely follow‑up on all donor cases, identify opportunities for process improvement, recognize achievements, and celebrate successes with hospital partners.
  • Investigate and address variances in the donation process identified through medical record reviews; develop corrective action plans as needed.
  • Assist with medical record reviews as requested, ensuring thoroughness and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of We Are Sharing Hope SC.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent OPO or healthcare experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in marketing, education, and/or healthcare preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels within a hospital setting.
    • Experience with strategic planning and implementation.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform decision‑making.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
    • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Equivalencies: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
