Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Illinois seeks a professional and courteous Donation Pickup & Delivery Driver for local routes. You will transport materials to and from designated destinations, representing the organization with donors and ensuring efficient operations.

Must be able to obtain Non-CDL Class C, pass DOT and background checks, and maintain a professional appearance. This full-time role offers benefits and opportunities to impact the community.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent is required.
• Two years licensed driving experience preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check.
• Valid Driver's License and clean MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Transportation & Logistics: follow scheduled routing procedures, drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries, ensure safe handling of goods, perform daily vehicle inspections, comply with DOT and OSHA regulations.
• Customer Service: represent The Salvation Army, treat donors with courtesy, communicate donation policy, report pickup problems, maintain professional appearance.
• Operations Support: use DSS program and iPad apps, support beneficiaries in work therapy goals, assist with loading/unloading, wear PPE, report safety concerns.

Shift: 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM

About the Role

At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community.We're seeking a professional and courteous driver to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This role is essential in representing The Salvation Army while providing exceptional service to our donors and maintaining efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
• Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles
• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations

Customer Service

• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
• Report any safety or security concerns immediately

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High School Degree or equivalent
• At least two years licensed driving experience

Required Certifications

Physical Requirements
