The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a reliable Donation Pickup & Delivery Driver for local routes. You will transport donations to and from destinations, ensure safe handling, and support store operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow scheduled routing procedures and drive the Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries.
• Ensure safe handling and security of all goods; perform pre/post-trip inspections.
• Support donors with courteous service and represent the organization professionally.
• Assist with loading/unloading and wear PPE as required.
• Maintain equipment and report safety or security concerns.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Saturday

About the Role

At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. We're seeking a professional and courteous driver to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This role is essential in representing The Salvation Army while providing exceptional service to our donors and maintaining efficient operations.

What You’ll Do

Transportation & Logistics

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
• Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles
• Maintain equipment in excellent working order
• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
• Train and Certify New Production Assistants

Customer Service

• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
• Report any safety or security concerns immediately

What You Need

Required

Education & Experience

• High School Degree or equivalent
• At least two years licensed driving experience
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check
