Job summary

The Salvation Army in San Jose, CA is seeking a Donation Attendant to maintain the donation area at the San Jose Main Store. The role includes assisting donors, handling receipts, and preparing reports, with dress code adherence and security at shift end.

Flexible scheduling is required to cover seven days per week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. GED or high school diploma required, strong communication and reading/writing skills preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.

• Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean up the area in and around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Appear neatly and cleanly dressed in suitable clothing as per The Salvation Army dress code policy.
• Courteously assist the donor in the receipt of donated items from the donor and provide receipt.
• Maintain all reports and paperwork as instructed by Supervisor.
• Separate and sort all donated material into the proper containers, and properly stack material as instructed by the Supervisor.
• Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations onto trucks as necessary.
• Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out (e.g.: brooms, receipts, totes, carts, etc.).
• Must secure and lock Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift.
• Must have flexible availability for scheduling purposes.
• Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and employee must be flexible to always ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
