Job summary

The Salvation Army in San Jose, CA is seeking a Donation Attendant to help manage the Donation trailer/pod area and assist donors with receipts. You will maintain cleanliness, organize donated items, and support loading donations onto trucks as needed.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Stores operate seven days a week with flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and donors.
• Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean up the area in and around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Appear neatly and cleanly dressed in suitable clothing as per The Salvation Army dress code policy.
• Courteously assist the donor in the receipt of donated items from the donor and provide receipt.
• Maintain all reports and paperwork as instructed by Supervisor.
• Separate and sort all donated material into the proper containers, and properly stack material as instructed by the Supervisor.
• Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations on to trucks as necessary.
• Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out (i.e.: brooms, receipts, totes, carts, etc.).
• Must secure and lock Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift.
• Must be have flexible availability for scheduling purposes.
• Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects up to 75lbs. with or without assistance.
• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.

Schedule:

Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and employee must be flexible to always ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
