Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory in Torrance, CA seeks a Donation Trailer Assistant to maintain the donation area, assist donors, and ensure proper receipt of donated items. You will perform reports and organize materials while following dress code policies.

Excellent communication and the ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions are required. A High School diploma or equivalent is needed, with flexible scheduling and physical ability to handle expected duties.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and donors.
  • Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and clean up the area in and around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Appear neatly and cleanly dressed in suitable clothing as per The Salvation Army dress code policy.
  • Courteously assist the donor in the receipt of donated items from the donor and provide receipt.
  • Maintain all reports and paperwork as instructed by Supervisor.
  • Separate and sort all donated material into the proper containers, and properly stack material as instructed by the Supervisor.
  • Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations on to trucks as necessary.
  • Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out (i.e.: brooms, receipts, totes, carts, etc.).
  • Must secure and lock Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift.
  • Must be have flexible availability for scheduling purposes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects up to 75lbs. with or without assistance
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
