Job summary

The Department of Social Services (DSS) in New York City is recruiting five Social Workers to join the Office of Domestic Violence as Domestic Violence Liaisons. The role requires a Master’s in Social Work and LMSW/LCSW within one year, with probationary extensions if licensing is delayed.

Work involves assessments, safety planning, on-site counseling, and referrals to DHS and partner agencies across several NYC locations. Hours are 9-5, with coverage at multiple centers as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
• LMSW or LCSW license within one year of appointment.
• License must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment/screening to determine if the client is a domestic violence survivor and level of needed services.
• Inform referred clients about rights and responsibilities and provide safety waivers.
• Facilitate emergency safety planning for clients in crisis.
• Provide on-site counseling services to clients as needed.
• Make referrals to DHS and other social service agencies.
• Complete six-month case reviews to evaluate safety and ongoing needs.
• Maintain case records with required information.
• Document statistical and written records as required.
• Provide coverage at other locations when needed.
• Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities by assessing safety concerns.
